After IDF raided the Zaytoun quarter of Gaza City in Dec 2023, Hadeel al-Dahdouh, a mother of two, was abducted by Israeli soldiers and thrown into the back of the truck pictured above. Hadeel al-Dahdouh was separated from her breastfeeding son for more than 50 days.
She testifies she was subjected to horrific torture under interrogation, including being beaten on her back and legs. When she asked an IDF soldier to loosen the painfully tight plastic shackles on her wrists, he tightened them more. Hadeel al-Dahdouh was also made to believe her husband was dead.
Of no intelligence value, Hadeel al-Dahdouh was eventually transferred to Damon Prison in Israel, where she was tortured for six more days, before being brought to the Karem Abu Salem Crossing along the barrier fence with Gaza for release.
"They left us there and ordered us to run towards Gaza without turning our heads back," Dahdouh said. “When I saw my children they were thin and malnourished”.
Hadeel al-Dahdouh’s testimony appears consistent with other former detainees abducted by the IDF following the 7 Oct 2023 Hamas attacks in southern Israel.
